I'm not sure that this happened, but I suspect that a small piece of metal loose in her pocket interacted with the charging port while she was out and about, and this started the main failure that caused her to need to upgrade. My understanding is that battery life reduces with this many years of age, but it's a minor enough issue that I don't even notice it.Īfter seeing my partner have to upgrade, my main tip is to not do what she did with her 2XL: don't store it loose in your pocket every day for years straight where other pocket items can interact with it. For me, it still works as good as new - or at least I can't tell a difference. However, my 2XL hasn't had anything like the same issues, likely because I work from home and haven't traveled with it nearly as often as she has. The threshold issue for her phone was the charging port ceased working as well as it originally did.
